Dr. Dinesh Bhattara, was Foreign Affairs Adviser to the Prime Minister of Nepal Rt. Hon. Sushil Koirala from February 2014- October 2015. He was Nepals Ambassador/Permanent Representative to the United Nations including the World Trade Organization (WTO) and International Organizations in Geneva, Rome, and Vienna from 2007 to 2012. Dr. Bhattarai was Ambassador of Nepal to the Swiss Confederation and concurrently accredited to Republic of Italy and Republic of Croatia. He was First Secretary (Political Affairs) at the Embassy of Nepal in New Delhi from 1991-1994, and Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Nepal in Washington D.C. from 1998-2003, in which he served as Charge d"Affaires a.i. from 2000-2001. Dr. Bhattarai worked in various capacities in Divisions of Protocol, Europe and America, Southeast Asia and Pacific, North Asia in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He also worked at the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He headed the Division of South Asia, SAARC, Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical Bhattarai headed the group of the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) within the UN system in Geneva from 2009-2012. He obtained his Ph.D. Degree in International Relations from the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. He has co-authored a book, "Nepal-India: Democracy in the Making of Mutual Trust", published in 1993.
